Kitchen Appliance Removal
Kitchen appliances are usually boxed in by cabinets and counters. Refrigerators sit in tight enclosures, dishwashers are screwed to the countertop, and wall ovens are set into cabinetry. We remove them without damaging the cabinets you are keeping.
Floors are where kitchen appliance removal goes wrong. Sliding a refrigerator across tile or wood can leave long scratches. We protect the floor in front of the unit and along the path out, the same way we protect floors on selective demolition jobs.
- Refrigerators, including built-in and counter-depth units
- Ranges, cooktops and wall ovens
- Built-in dishwashers and trash compactors
- Over-the-range microwaves and range hoods
- Wine coolers and under-counter refrigerators
Laundry Room and Closet Appliances
Washers and dryers in LA homes are often tucked into hall closets, garages or small laundry rooms off the kitchen. Stacked units have to be separated and lowered safely. We take them out with dollies and straps and carry them through the house with care for walls and door frames.
Disconnecting Gas, Water and Electric
Before we remove an appliance, it needs to be safely disconnected. Electric appliances that plug in are simple. Gas ranges, gas dryers and water heaters need the gas shut off and the line capped, and dishwashers and refrigerators with water lines need the supply shut off.
If a connection needs a plumber or another trade, we will tell you during the estimate so it is handled before our crew arrives. We do not leave open lines behind.
Appliance Removal Before a Kitchen Remodel
If a kitchen remodel is coming, appliance removal is often step one. Because NEO is a licensed demolition contractor (CSLB #1144503), we can remove the appliances and then move into the cabinet and countertop tear-out, with dust control in place for the rest of the house.
If you plan to reuse an appliance in the new kitchen, we can move it to the garage instead of hauling it.

Removal on Delivery Day
New appliance deliveries often come with a narrow window. We can remove the old unit before the delivery crew arrives so the space is clear, clean and ready. Behind and under old appliances there is usually dust and debris, so we sweep and vacuum the opening before we leave.
Where Old Appliances Go
Appliances are mostly metal, so we separate them from other debris for recycling. Refrigerators and freezers contain refrigerant, which recycling facilities handle under their own rules.
