Common saw cutting jobs
Saw cutting is usually part of a bigger project. Here are the jobs we cut for most often.
- Driveway widening or replacing one section of a driveway
- Trenches in garage slabs for ADU plumbing
- Openings in slabs for new drains or sewer work
- Separating a patio or walkway from a foundation that stays
- Cutting along pool coping before deck removal
- Removing damaged sections of sidewalk or walkway on private property
- Openings for new footings or posts
Why cut before you break
Concrete does not break where you want it to. If you start breaking a slab without a cut, cracks can run into the section you meant to keep. A saw cut creates a weak line on purpose, so the concrete breaks along it and the remaining edge stays straight and solid.
That clean edge also matters for the next contractor. New concrete poured against a straight, sound edge looks better and performs better than a patch against a jagged break.
Tight spaces and side yards
A lot of saw cutting in LA happens where machines cannot go: narrow side yards between houses, garage interiors and back patios behind a gate. We use concrete saws that can be carried in and operated in tight spaces, and we break out and remove the cut section by hand when needed.

Dust and water control
Cutting concrete creates fine dust and slurry. We use water to keep the dust down and manage the runoff so it does not end up on your siding, windows or the neighbor's yard. In garages and interiors, we protect walls and nearby items before cutting starts.
Driveway widening and approaches
Widening a driveway or replacing one cracked panel is one of the most common reasons homeowners call us for saw cutting. We cut along the existing joints or a new line you choose, break out the section and haul it away. The concrete that stays has a straight, solid edge, so the new pour ties in cleanly. You also avoid replacing more driveway than you need to.
Work at the street side of a driveway may involve the public sidewalk or curb, which falls under city rules. If your project reaches that far, we will tell you what applies before cutting.
Saw cutting for ADU plumbing
Garage-to-ADU conversions often need new drain lines under the existing slab. Your plumber marks where the lines run, we cut and remove those trenches, and the plumber can start right away. When the plumbing is done, the trench is ready to be backfilled and patched by your contractor.

Cutting, breakout and haul-off in one visit
Some saw cutting companies leave once the line is cut. We finish the job by breaking out the section, separating any rebar and hauling the concrete in our own trucks and trailers. Concrete is kept clean for recycling, and the work area is left swept.
