Hillside and retaining wall demolition
On hillside properties in places like the Hollywood Hills, a lot of the exterior is concrete: retaining walls, terraces and pool decks with views over the city. Removing these takes planning, because walls may be holding back soil and access is often limited.
We use mini excavators with hydraulic breakers to take walls down in sections, and we work from the order your engineer or builder sets for anything that is retaining soil. Debris is staged and loaded so the street stays usable. On many hillside streets, parking is tight and residents rely on every space, so we keep our trucks positioned to load and leave without blocking driveways.
Brick and masonry outdoor features
Outdoor fireplaces, brick barbecues and fire pits were popular in LA back yards for decades. Many are cracked, out of style or in the way of a new design. We break them down, separate the brick from other debris and haul it off by the trailer load.
Working on tight Los Angeles lots
Many LA homes sit on narrow lots with a single side yard, a shared driveway or a steep set of steps between the street and the back yard. That shapes how we plan exterior demolition. Compact machines get through gates that full-size equipment cannot, and when even those will not fit, the crew breaks materials down by hand and wheels them out.
We also think about staging. Debris is moved straight to a truck or trailer at the curb instead of piling up in a neighbor's view for days.
Safety on the outside job site
Exterior work often happens close to property lines, so we mark the area with caution tape and fencing, keep the crew in hard hats and hi-vis, and spray water to hold down dust when breaking concrete or masonry. When we are finished, the yard is cleared and raked so you can see exactly what you have to work with.
As materials come out, we keep wood, concrete, brick and metal in separate piles. That makes loading faster and lets more of it go to recycling instead of a landfill. We separate concrete, metal, wood and other recyclable materials whenever practical.
Planning the yard after demolition
Exterior demolition is usually the first step toward something new. If you are adding a pool, an ADU or new landscaping, tell us the plan. We can remove the old features, rough grade the yard with a skid steer and leave it ready for the next contractor. That saves a separate mobilization and keeps the project moving.
