In-Home Furniture Removal in Los Angeles

Furniture removal is about getting a heavy piece out of a finished home without scraping a wall, scratching a floor or hurting anyone. NEO Demolition & Hauling sends a crew that carries furniture out of bedrooms, down stairs, through narrow hallways and out to our truck, then hauls it away.

This service is for the careful part of the job. Maybe it is a sleeper sofa in a second-floor den, a solid wood armoire in a bedroom upstairs, or a sectional that has to come out before new furniture arrives. If you have a large volume of furniture in a garage, office or storage unit, our furniture hauling page is a better fit.

Protecting Your Home During Furniture Removal

We work inside finished homes every week, and the same habits apply to furniture removal. Before the carry starts, we look at the path from the room to the door and protect it.

On hardwood, tile or stone floors along the route, we can lay Ram Board, the same floor protection we use on interior demolition jobs. Tight corners and door frames are where most damage happens, so the crew slows down there.

  • Floor protection along the carry path
  • Door frames and banisters watched on every turn
  • Pieces wrapped or padded when edges are sharp
  • Pictures and fragile items moved out of the way first

Stairs, Hallways and Tight Spaces

Many Los Angeles homes have tight staircases, narrow 1920s hallways, or split-level layouts with short flights of steps between rooms. Hillside houses can have long exterior stairways from the street. A heavy dresser or sofa is a two- or three-person carry in those spots.

When a piece will not make the turn, we take it apart. Legs, doors, drawers and frames come off, and some pieces are cut down when they are being discarded anyway.

Exterior steps and walkways matter too. On hillside lots we check footing, plan rest points on long stairways and keep the carry slow and controlled.

Furniture We Remove From Homes

We remove all kinds of household furniture, from a single piece to several rooms.

  • Sofas, sectionals, sleeper sofas and recliners
  • Beds, frames, mattresses and box springs
  • Dressers, armoires and wardrobes
  • Dining tables, hutches and china cabinets
  • Desks, bookcases and entertainment centers
  • Built-in shelving and cabinetry, removed by our demolition crew

Built-In Furniture and Cabinetry

Some furniture is attached to the house: built-in bookcases, window seats, wall units and old closet systems. Removing them is light selective demolition, which is what we do. We take them out with care for the surrounding wall and floor, and tell you what patching to expect.

Removal Before New Furniture Arrives

Delivery companies often will not take the old piece, or charge to do it. We can schedule removal the day before or the morning of your delivery so the room is empty and swept when the new furniture comes through the door.

If the room is also getting new flooring or paint, clearing it fully gives those trades a clean start.

Furniture Removal FAQs

Can you remove just one piece of furniture?

Yes. A single heavy piece, like a sleeper sofa or an armoire upstairs, is a common request. Send a photo and we will tell you how we can fit it in.

What if the furniture will not fit through the door?

We take it apart. Most furniture came in through that door in pieces or at an angle, and it can usually leave the same way. If it is being thrown away, we can also cut it down.

Will you protect my floors?

Yes. We protect floors along the carry path and take extra care at corners, door frames and stair landings, where most damage happens.

Can you remove a piano?

Pianos are very heavy and need special care. Tell us the type, the location and any stairs during the estimate, and we will give you an honest answer about whether we are the right crew for that piece.

Do you remove built-in furniture?

Yes. Built-in bookcases, wall units and closet systems are removed by our demolition crew with care for the wall and floor around them.

Can you take furniture from a home where someone still lives?

Yes. Most furniture removal jobs happen in occupied homes. We keep the work to the rooms and path you approve, and leave the rest of the house undisturbed.
